01

Understand the experience before refining the surface

We start with the people using the product, their tasks and the points where the current experience gets in the way. Depending on the brief, that can involve a usability review, information architecture, journey mapping or research with available users.

A clear structure gives the interface something solid to express. We test the important flows in wireframes and prototypes, including the less glamorous moments: empty screens, failed payments, interrupted tasks and getting back on track.

02

Make the visual identity useful in a real interface

Typography, colour, spacing and motion need to work at the size of a button as well as on a launch page. We develop a visual direction and apply it to representative screens before extending it across the product.

Accessibility informs the work throughout: readable text, visible focus states, meaningful labels, usable touch targets and motion preferences. Visual polish matters, but so does being able to finish the task with a keyboard or on a small screen.

03

A design system your team can actually use

Reusable components keep repeated interactions consistent and make later changes easier to maintain. We document component states, responsive behaviour and the decisions behind the system, then work with engineering through implementation.

The engagement can cover a focused flow, a full product experience or an ongoing design partnership. We agree what needs research, what needs redesign and what can be retained before estimating the work.

THE WORK, MADE TANGIBLE

What we can deliver.

  • Experience review and prioritised design opportunities
  • Information architecture and key user journeys
  • Visual direction, interface designs and prototypes
  • Responsive components and interaction states
  • Design guidance for implementation and handover

We agree the deliverables, ownership, budget and release responsibilities in your project scope.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

A few useful answers.

Can you improve our existing product without rebuilding it?

Yes. A focused review can identify specific journeys, components or accessibility issues to improve within your current product.

Will the designs cover mobile and desktop?

We agree the supported platforms at the start. Responsive web work includes the relevant screen sizes and content behaviour, not just a single desktop composition.

Can Empyre also build the design?

Yes. Design and engineering can be part of the same engagement, with working reviews throughout implementation.
